You can't really go wrong giving it a try. Or just clone one Big Sur install to another partition or drive. I can now create bootable Big Sur clones, and incrementally update them in a Smart Update fashion. You can now choose to do what SD! calls a Smart Update.Įarly Big Sur ready versions of CCC were a bit wonky, though that was largely because Apple was still fixing OS frameworks and other under-the-hood functions apps like CCC and SD! needed so they could access and clone the Signed System Volume of Big Sur.But since I needed something, I gave it another look. I knew about CCC, but didn't really like how earlier versions backed up a drive. I don't like being without a bootable clone of the OS I'm using and didn't want to wait much longer for a Catalina ready version of SD! (at the time).
